West Ham enforcer targeted by La Liga giants after £8m bid tabled - report

Atletico Madrid are interested in signing West Ham defender Reece Oxford who is continuing his development in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach, according to a report.
The Telegraph made the revelations regarding the youngster’s future with the Spanish side eyeing the English defender who was allowed to return to Germany in the transfer window despite injury concerns to a number of first team players.
Oxford, 19, has struggled to break into the Monchengladbach first team for the most part but was given a start against at home against Borussia Dortmund last weekend which ended in a 1-0 defeat.
West Ham rejected a £8million bid for Oxford in January from the Bundesliga outfit as it is thought the Hammers rate the England U20 international at £12m.
Football Insider verdict:
It was a surprise that given the number of injuries David Moyes had at West Ham that Oxford was allowed to return to the Bundesliga in January but it would appear that for one reason or another the 19-year-old isn’t fancied in East London. Unfortunately for the defender, the relegation battle his parent club find themselves in means that his inexperience has made him unfancied by the Irons – this looks like a deal that could happen in the summer.
