Vertonghen: The two factors that prove Tottenham are capable of something special
By Matt Bullin
Tottenham and Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen has claimed his side has quality and belief after their last-gasp win over Swansea on Wednesday night.
Vertonghen, who has been capped by his country 91 times, captained Tottenham as they beat the Swans 3-1.
Spurs struck three goals after the 88th minute at the Liberty to deny Swansea a huge three points.
Dele Alli scored with two minutes left on the clock to level the scores after Wayne Routledge’s early tap in.
Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen then both netted in injury time to give Spurs all three points and send their fans into raptures.

Vertonghen said on tottenhamhotspur.com after the game: “This team has that special thing.
“We have all the quality but we also have all the belief. We didn’t know the other scores but it was important to win to extend that gap from the teams behind us. It shows what we’re capable of and that’s something special.”
The Belgian centre half has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season and has become a key figure at the heart of their defence.
Tottenham’s win on Wednesday confirmed their second place spot in the Premier League and ensured that Chelsea stayed just in reach.
Chelsea currently sit seven points ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s side with just eight games to go.
A top-four spot seems all but confirmed for Spurs who are seven points clear of Manchester City, who occupy fourth.
Next up for Vertonghen and his team is a home match against Watford on Saturday.
