David Unsworth is still in the running to become Everton manager

By Guy Giles

Everton head into their Europa League clash with Lyon tonight at the bottom of Group E with just one point from their first three matches, and fans have reacted on Twitter to caretaker manager David Unsworth’s team selection.

Unsworth seems to have decided to trust in youth as he hands starts to Beni Baningime, Mason Holgate, and Ademola Lookman, with Jonjoe Kenny also playing at right back.

Cuco Martina gets a rare start at centre back alongside Ashley Williams, with Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye, Aaron Lennon and Gylfi Sigurdsson rounding out the starting XI.

The main point of contention among fans is Everton’s seeming lack of an out-and-out striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the bench and Sandro Ramirez out of the squad altogether.

Everton desperately need a win in Lyon if they are to keep their European adventure alive, and a loss tonight could seal their exit from the competition.
