Best in the game: World Cup manager jets into Celtic to learn from Brendan Rodgers

Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio has revealed that he recently paid a visit to Glasgow to examine the methods used by Brendan Rodgers.

Osorio wants to put the methods he saw at work on display in next year’s World Cup in Russia, he visited Glasgow after Mexico’s recent friendlies in Europe.

“After the two games in Belgium and Poland, I decided to stay in Europe for a while. I wanted to visit the best coaching technicians in the game to see how they worked,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“So I went to see Brendan Rodgers at Celtic and a few others too. I was able to observe how he operates and look at how he deals with players and it helped me enormously.

“I will use some of the knowledge I have learned on our players in the months leading up to the World Cup.”

Rodgers has been a huge success at Celtic since arriving at Celtic Park in May 2016.

He recently clinched his fourth domestic trophy in last week’s Betfred Cup Final victory over Motherwell.

Last season he lead Celtic to their first domestic treble since 2001, and first unbeaten league campaign since the 1890s.

The Hoops are currently on a 66 match British record domestic unbeaten run, and on the verge of clinching European football after Christmas for the first time in three years.
