Patrick Roberts sends message to Celtic fans after suffering major injury blow
Celtic winger Patrick Roberts has taken to social media to express his sadness at his latest injury, but he has vowed to the Hoops fans that he will “work hard” to overcome his setback.
The 20-year-old, on-loan from Manchester City, suffered his second hamstring injury of the season in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell last week, however this injury is far more severe than the first as it could keep him out of action for up to three months.
The player, who has returned to his parent club Manchester City for treatment, used his personal Instagram account to give Celtic fans an update on how long he’ll be out of the side for.
“Sad to be out for a few months! Working hard to get back out on the pitch ASAP” he said.
Roberts is out at a bad time for both the player and Celtic, as the Hoops are in the midst of an extremely busy December which sees them take on Anderlecht in their final Champions League group stage match on Tuesday night and play the likes of Hibs, Aberdeen and Rangers in the league.
One silver lining that Bhoys supporters can take from the injury is the form of Roberts’ replacement in the team James Forrest, who continued his great season at the weekend with two goals against Motherwell, taking his total for the season to 10 goals.
