Whilst most of the Celtic squad are off on international duty, one player who isn’t is Anthony Ralston, who is currently on-loan at Dundee United.
The 19-year-old defender played 82 minutes in his debut for the Tannadice side, as they went down 3-2 to Queen of the South.
The decision to send the youngster on-loan was a bit of a surprise, as Mikael Lustig hasn’t been in the best of form for the Bhoys this season.
However, Brendan Rodgers must have felt that the player would have benefited with some game time rather than spending time on the bench.
Ralston and Rodgers will need to have a frank discussion about the player’s future in the summer, as it is uncertain if he has much of one at the club.
The player has went from starting against PSG in the Champions League group stages, to playing for a team struggling to recapture their past glories in the Championship.
The summer could well prove to be make or break for Ralston. If he is involved in the Champions League qualifiers beginning in July then he may have a long-term future at the club.
However, if he is not involved in the games, then he may be better off looking to join another club, perhaps once again on loan, until his future becomes clearer.
