Everton took on Liverpool at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, in the latest Merseyside derby between the two clubs.

Before the game, much was made of the inclusion of former Manchester United defensive midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin in the starting XI.

Fans weren’t happy with Sam Allardyce’s decision to select the 28-year-old Frenchman, who is yet to win over supporters since his move to the club last January.

But that couldn’t have been more different to their reaction towards their keeper and England international Jordan Pickford.

The stopper pulled out an awesome save in the 15th minute when Dominic Solanke looked as though it was a nailed on goal for the Reds at 0-0 and it got the Everton fans reacting on Twitter.

On the whole, it was a largely disappointing first-half from the Blues though, who for the main part maintained a defensive set-up to stave off a free-scoring Liverpool side.

The Toffees have very little to play for this season, with their status in the Premier League secured, it would have been expected that the defensive constraints would be taken from Sam Allardyce’s side – but it would appear that the manager is as defensively minded as ever.

Here is a selection of Twitter responses from Everton fans in reaction to their player:
