Football Insider analyses the three talking points as Manchester United beat Wigan 4-0 to progress through to the next round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw must be sold

The Southampton academy product joined Manchester United during the summer of 2014, but it is fair to say the £27million spent on him has been a waste of money. The left-back ace seems to have lost the raw quality which saw his earn rave reviews when he broke onto the scene as a teenager. His fitness has to be questioned and his attacking ability seems to have gone out of the window. Shaw’s decision-making in not overlapping his winger was questionable and his display against Wigan was poor.

Jose Mourinho’s chance to stamp his authority on the club

The Portuguese manager joined the Manchester club on the back of a number of successful years at other European clubs, including England with Chelsea. However, this is arguably his biggest challenge yet and he will want to get off to the best start possible. Mourinho can do that at the end of this campaign and stamp his authority on the club by winning two domestic trophies. United are currently in the final of the League Cup and will now be one of the favourites to lift the FA Cup after their win over Wigan. Winning trophies can see the outspoken manager become immune to criticism as he is delivering what the club has been built upon, winning trophies.

Fosu-Mensah is one for the future

Timothy Fosu-Mensah produced a positive display for United during their FA Cup win and he showed that he is another player that is ready to produce the goods in the future for the Manchester club. The 19-year-old has a number of good qualities about him, from his raw pace, his strength and his reading of the game. There were times when the Dutchman was erratic but all of this is part of the learning curve for the youngster. Alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford, Fosu-Mensah is another player that should be given a run in the first team by Mourinho in the near future.

In other Manchester United news, this duo were 9/10 after the win against Wigan in the FA Cup.
