Celtic must sign up Portugal international to solve clear Rodgers problem area
Celtic have a problem position in their team – right-back. The team have failed to find an adequate replacement for Mikael Lustig, who at 31-years-old is not getting any younger.
However, one player who can become Lustig’s replacement and help the Hoops solve this problem is Southampton defender Cedric Soares.
The 5ft 6in Portuguese international looks certain to be relegated from the Premier League with his current side, who sit in 18th place in the table five points from safety.
As a winner of Euro 2016 with Portugal, he won’t want to drop down to the Championship, which is where the Hoops come in.
The defender will be an upgrade on Lustig immediately as he is 26-years-old, some five years younger than the Hoops current right-back.

He has also played well for a poor side this season, unlike Lustig who played poor for a good team. If the Hoops want to make an impression in the Champions League, the addition of a player who has won trophies at the highest level can only be a good thing.
The Hoops should put in a bid of around £3million for the player, which is more than reasonable when you consider that Southampton will need to sell players, and he won’t have that much sell on value.
The Hoops need to make some adventurous signings in the summer, and Soares certainly fits into that category.
