Everton are set to swoop for Manchester City Lukas Nmecha and the striker could be tempted with a move to Goodison Park in order to get game time, according to a report.
The Sun reports that Steve Walsh, the Toffees’ director of football is keen on trying to pull off the deal next month, but will return in the summer if he is unable to secure his services in January.
The 18-year-old currently plays his football for Manchester City’s Under-23s team and this season the striker has scored eight goals in six appearances in the Premier League 2.
The Toffees believe that the England Under-19s international would be ready to feature in their first team in the near future.
Football Insider Verdict
Manchester City have an impressive youth system, if not the best one in the country, which means Nmecha faces a lot of competition when it comes to breaking into their first team. The report states that Everton could see the striker featuring for them in the near future, which means he would be closer to Premier League action with a move. The 18-year-old would be quite the coup for the Toffees, despite his lack of experience, as Manchester City would not want to lose someone so highly-rated at such a young age. Walsh should make the move happen in January, not just because Everton need a striker but due to the fact that Derby have also been monitoring his process; and with a talent like his it’s more likely that other teams will join the race for his services sooner rather than later.
