Shearer brings Newcastle back down to earth after derby draw with Sunderland
By Coral Barry
Alan Shearer reminded a jubilant Newcastle that the Tyne-Wear derby draw against Sunderland only helps Norwich in the fight to remain in the Premier League.
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 83rd minute header rescued a point and Newcastle’s pride against their local rivals, but fellow relegation battlers Norwich collected their first win in 11 games on Saturday.
Newcastle and Sunderland are both in the drop zone after Norwich’s victory, with the Magpies now three points from safety.
Shearer used his Twitter account to give ecstatic Newcastle fans a reality check after the late equaliser from Mitrovic.
