‘A new hero’ – Leeds fans react on Twitter to 25-year-old display in pre-season loss
By Derek Smithson
Ezgjan Alioski scored during Leeds’ pre-season defeat to Spanish club Eibar – and the club’s supporters raved about the attacking midfielder on Twitter.
The Whites fell to a 4-2 loss in the friendly as Thomas Christiansen’s side got some more minutes under their belt.
They were 3-0 down at half-time due to a classy performance from La Liga side Eibar, but produced a much better second-half with goals from Chris Wood and Alioski to make it a closer contest.
Alioski managed to latch on to a chipped through ball from teammate Pablo Hernandez and finished into the far corner from a tight angle.
The 25-year-old winger only arrived at Elland Road in the summer from FC Lugano and will hope to land a starting position ahead of the new season.
Leeds fans appear to have already taken to the summer arrival and are predicting big things from him in the new campaign.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Macedonia international Alioski has already made a big impression with the Leeds fans and will be keen to start the Championship season in good form.
The tricky wide man is renowned for his quality in possession and has also given the Whites fans a glimpse of his hard work.
He sealed his move to England after a brilliant season for Swiss top-flight club FC Lugano last year, where he scored 17 goals and supplied 14 assists in 36 matches across all competitions.
Alisoki will now battle alongside teammates Kemar Roofe, Souleymane Doukara, Stuart Dallas and Hadi Sacko for a starting spot.
