Aaron Ramsdale left devastated as he shares new Southampton message

Aaron Ramsdale posted a social media statement directed to the Southampton fans revealing his devastation after the side’s latest heavy defeat in the Premier League.

Southampton suffered a 4-0 defeat to Brighton at St Mary’s Stadium on 22 February. The loss is another significant setback for the Saints, who now have 21 defeats this season.

Goals from Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma, and Jack Hinshelwood sealed the heavy defeat, further compounding the team’s struggles.

Ramsdale, who started in goal as usual, faced the brunt of a relentless Brighton attack. With the four goals conceded, Southampton has now let in a staggering 61 goals in the league, the highest in the division.

Despite the disheartening performance, the goalkeeper took the time to convey his gratitude and appreciation to the fans as the team grapples with its poor form.

Aaron Ramsdale has faced a challenging time at Southampton

Following the defeat, goalkeeper Aron Ramsdale shared a message with fans on Instagram, accompanied by a picture of him clapping the supporters.

His caption read: “These results and performances are really tough to take. We are fighting for our lives every week, and as fans, you deserve so much more. We need to do whatever it takes to finish this season as strong as possible.”

This season, Ramsdale has faced criticism from Southampton fans due to poor performances and errors that have directly led to goals. He joined the club last summer from Arsenal for £25 million on a four-year deal, with the option of an additional 12 months.

Ramsdale was linked to a potential move to Wolves, but he opted to join Southampton when they were managed by Russell Martin.

However, his time at the club has not gone as he would have hoped, particularly due to several injuries. He missed seven games from November to December because of a finger injury and has also suffered from a muscular injury earlier this year.

Southampton struggle in Premier League as relegation looms

Ramsdale is often vocal on social media, as demonstrated when he called out VAR during the reverse fixture against Brighton back in November.

Unfortunately, it has been a challenging debut season for him, as Southampton have managed to earn just nine points throughout the campaign. Their form has barely improved since the appointment of Ivan Juric, and they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Burnley.

With relegation looming, it will be crucial for Ramsdale and the rest of the players to improve their performances until the end of the season, as a return to the Championship is more than likely.
