Aaron Ramsdale, Nick Pope: ‘Leeds push to finalise keeper signing, this is strong info’
Leeds United are set to push to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window and have identified Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope as key targets.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that the two England internationals, aged 27 and 33 respectively, have been heavily tipped as options to replace Illan Meslier.
Meslier, 25, has been widely tipped to leave Elland Road this summer after an error-stricken season which has forced Daniel Farke to consider his options.
Robinson told Football Insider on 5 July that he “would love” Leeds to sign Ramsdale amid speculation about a move to Rangers to replace Jack Butland.
However, he explained that the club are having a close look at Pope, who could be allowed to leave Newcastle as they close in on a move for James Trafford.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 2 June that Pope would prefer to stay at Newcastle despite interest from Leeds as he aims to compete for the number one spot.

Leeds eye new goalkeeper signings after Ramsdale tip
Football Insider revealed in April that Farke sees Ramsdale as a “great fit” for Leeds and is a “big fan” of his as they continue to weigh up a move.
The Southampton shot-stopper is widely expected to leave St Mary’s Stadium this summer following their relegation from the Premier League after his release clause became active.
Robinson explained that Ramsdale would be his choice to become Leeds’ next number one, but Pope is a name they are heavily considering.
“Ramsdale, I’ve said before on record, I’d love him to go to Leeds,” he told Football Insider.
“I know Leeds are now strongly looking at Nick Pope as well.
“These are two goalkeepers they have been heavily linked with this summer.
“For Aaron Ramsdale, with the World Cup coming up, he wants to get back into that England reckoning as a real challenger.”

Manor Solomon update emerges after Tottenham return
On top of their ambitions of signing a new goalkeeper this summer, Farke’s side are also aiming to bring back a star of last season in Manor Solomon.
Robinson told Football Insider on 4 July that Leeds will do everything to sign Solomon on a permanent deal this summer after he returned to Tottenham.
However, they are not expected to be alone in their pursuit of the Israel international, while Thomas Frank plans to assess his future in pre-season training.
This comes after former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Burnley are interested in signing Solomon and have joined Leeds in the race for his signature.
