Everton academy starlet Morgan Feeney has been training with the first-team squad ahead of their Europa League clash against Apollon Limassol, according to a recent report.

The Liverpool Echo has revealed that the 18-year-old has been involved in the senior sessions at the Finch Farm complex.

The newspaper claims that this could mean the young centre-back is close to making his senior debut during their showdown with the Cypriot club on Thursday evening.

It is understood that while the Under-23 captain trains with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson, fellow senior men Phil Jagielka and James McCarthy have trained away from their team mates with the hope of improving their fitness.

Feeney has been one of the most recent promising academy stars, and has proven himself in a Blues jersey as well as on international duty.

Despite being predominantly a defender, the Englishman has secured two goals during eight appearances for the England Under-18s squad.

With Jagielka out of Thursday’s clash and Ashley Williams regularly failing to impress on the backline he may get a call up to play in front of keeper Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park.

Ronald Koeman will need to choose his team wisely as it is vital that the Toffees come away with three points following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the first group game of the competition.
