Agbonlahor: Aston Villa tipped to start 23-yr-old tonight as Konza ruled out

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Axel Tuanzebe to replace the suspended Ezri Konsa in the Aston Villa starting XI.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer also suggested Tyrone Mings may replace Kortney Hause against Southampton.

Dean Smith confirmed today (November 4) their appeal against Konsa’s red card he received against West Ham was upheld so he is banned for Friday’s game at St. Mary’s.

Mings was introduced from the bench against West Ham when Konsa was sent off after being dropped from the starting XI.

But Agbonlahor has insisted it is not guaranteed the captain will come straight back into the side.

A start for Tuanzebe, 23, would be his seventh of the season after re-signing on loan from Man United.

“You’d like a left and a right-footer, to be honest,” he told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I think it will be Mings and Tuanzebe or Hause and Tuanzebe. You don’t really see two left-footed centre-halves, especially with the way Aston Villa like to play out of the back.

“This is a game where Dean Smith has to play his most experienced side, a team that can get him a result.

“The red card changed the game against West Ham. Once the red card happened, it was inevitable they were going to score more goals.

“The manager has got to make big decisions. Even if you’re captain, even if you’re playing for your country, everyone was droppable.

“Smith will have had his reasons, I’m not sure what they were. I thought Hause had a good game and I thought Konsa had a good game.”
