Agbonlahor: Barkley tipped to quit Aston Villa for new Premier League team
Ross Barkley’s season will “fizzle out” and there’s little chance of him being at Aston Villa next year, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted Barkley’s recent displays for Dean Smith’s side have been “worrying”.
The 27-year-old has not completed 90 minutes since January and has not started a game in claret and blue since the middle of February.
Football Insider revealed at the beginning of last month Villa would have to fork out £35million to his parent club Chelsea to keep Barkley at the club next season.
The Telegraph report West Ham, who are currently fourth in the Premier League, are admirers of the attacker and David Moyes is keen on a potential loan deal for next season.
Asked for his assessment of Barkley’s recent appearances from the bench, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s a bit worrying.

“I think the season is going to fizzle out for him, to be honest. Jack’s out and he’s still not starting and when he’s coming on he’s not really making a difference.
“He doesn’t look like the same energetic player who gets the ball and runs at people.
“It’s a bit of a shame really. It’s been a disappointing loan overall and I just don’t see Villa making it permanent and he will choose a different club to go to next season.”
Barkley has scored three times and provided one assist in 19 Premier League games for Villa this season, including 14 starts.
The 33-time England international has 28 goals and 31 assists in the top-flight across spells with Everton, Chelsea and Villa.
