Agbonlahor Exclusive: Villa 26-yr-old facing freeze-out - 'It Will Be Long Way Back'
Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed injured Aston Villa winger Trezeguet will find it difficult to win back his place in the starting XI because of the form of Anwar El Ghazi.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted the Dutch international’s recent performances are making him undroppable.
El Ghazi has scored five goals in his last five games for the Midlands giants including a vital equaliser against Chelsea on Monday night.
After not featuring in Villa’s first six Premier League games of the season, the 25-year-old has been afforded an opportunity with Trezeguet, 26, picking up an injury.
The Egypt international started their first nine games of the season but has not featured since the end of November after picking up a hamstring injury.
“What I like about El Ghazi is it has taken a bit of time,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“It’s taken maybe a season in the Premier League to show what he can do.
“I feel like now he’s taking players on and beating players whereas last season he wasn’t.
“He looks confident when he’s shooting, last season he wasn’t. His whole game has improved.
“Sometimes it might take a year for you to get used to the Premier League.
“For sure, he’s definitely undroppable now.
“Unfortunately for Trezeguet, he’s come out the side injured and given a chance to El Ghazi to shine and it will be a long way back for Trezeguet to get back into the starting team.”
El Ghazi played 34 times in the Premier League last season but found the net just four times and contributed four assists.
In the previous campaign, the winger played a vital role in securing promotion to the top-flight by scoring the winning goal in Villa’s play-off final triumph over Derby County.
