Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed there is a “good chance” Eddie Howe could reject the Celtic offer and wait for Crystal Palace.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker insisted the pull of the Premier League and possibility of staying in the south of England could sway the 43-year-old’s decision.

Football Insider understands the Hoops fear Howe may be having second thoughts on taking the position after reaching a verbal agreement last week.

It comes amid concerns Crystal Palace could hijack the deal with Roy Hodgson’s contract set to expire in the summer.

As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday morning (7th April), Celtic are assessing ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Lucian Favre as an alternative.

Asked which of Palace and Celtic he could see Howe ending up at, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think Celtic are a massive club.

“But I see a manager like Eddie Howe, he 100 per cent wants to stay in the Premier League if he can.

“There’s no rush for him to sign at Celtic, I’m sure they’ll hang on until the end of the season.

“I’m sure he might be looking at Crystal Palace as a team where he can stay in the Premier League and be there for a number of years.

“I wouldn’t be 100 per cent sure that he’ll go to Celtic. There’s a good chance he could sign at Crystal Palace.

“It’s a big decision to move your family to Scotland so definitely Crystal Palace would suit him and his family more.

“We’ll have to wait and see.”
