Agbonlahor makes bold Martinez transfer prediction after Aston Villa price 'doubled'
Emiliano Martinez will return to Aston Villa full of confidence after helping Argentina to win the Copa America.
That is the view of Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Argentina’s win over Brazil in the final.
Martinez started seven of Argentina’s eight games in the tournament and was the hero as they beat Colombia on penalties in the semi-final.
It caps off a remarkable rise for the stopper who 18 months ago was sitting on Arsenal’s bench.
He was then handed an opportunity by the Gunners when Bernd Leno suffered an injury.
Martinez started their FA Cup final victory in the 2019-20 campaign before moving to Villa for a reported £20million fee last summer.

And Agbonlahor has claimed he is now worth more than double that.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I watched the final and I think Messi hugged Martinez more than anybody else!
“With the rise that he’s had, I’m sure his value has more than doubled already for Aston Villa.
“During the game, he was making saves and he looked big in the goal. He’s just an excellent goalkeeper and Aston Villa are lucky to have him.
“He’s hugging Lionel Messi, playing with Messi and winning things which is something he might have thought he would never get to do.
“I’m happy for him and it will give him confidence coming into the new season.
“Obviously now he’ll have a nice holiday and he’ll come back and be motivated to have a good season for Aston Villa.”
