Agbonlahor moots Virgil van Dijk injury as Liverpool 'horror' revealed
Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Virgil Van Dijk “does not look the same” player at Liverpool this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa striker questioned if the centre-half was struggling with an injury problem.
Van Dijk, 31, has started every game for the Reds so far this season.
He helped the side to secure a 2-1 win over Ajax on Tuesday night (13 September).
As quoted by the Daily Mail (13 September), the centre-back spoke out about the criticism he has received from former pros after a poor start to the season.
The Netherlands international said the 4-1 defeat to Napoli last week was a “horror show” but the victory on Tuesday was a “step in the right direction”.

Van Dijk was out of action for nine months at the start of the 2020-21 season after rupturing his cruciate ligament.
Agbonlahor suggested Van Dijk has not been as good since his return.
“He doesn’t look the same to be honest,” he told Football Insider.
“When I see him run he doesn’t look comfortable running. He doesn’t look as quick. He doesn’t look like the same player. Is there an injury problem there that he’s playing on with? This isn’t the Van Dijk that everyone was saying was the best centre-back ever to play in the Premier League.
“The way he’s playing now proves you can’t jump and say someone’s the best ever to play in the Premier League when they haven’t done it for six or seven years like Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Vincent Kompany have. It’s showing now that Van Dijk is a shadow of his former self.“
