Harry Kane will push to leave Tottenham this summer but there is little chance he will secure a move away, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker claimed he has “heard” from his sources in the game no club would be able to meet Spurs’ asking price for the England captain due to the financial impact of the pandemic.
Football Insider broke the news last Friday (9th April) Kane has told friends privately he wants to quit Tottenham this summer.
“I think he tries to go,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But a lot of these transfers that people think are going to happen aren’t going to happen. Mbappe, Haaland, Kane. People haven’t got the money from what I’m hearing.
“This isn’t five or six years ago when teams could just spend what they want, it’s different times. Corona has hurt a lot of club’s pockets.
“He wants to go but I think he stays because clubs can’t pay the money, to be honest.
“Even Man City, do they really want to pay the money at his age when Haaland is six or seven years younger and can be got for a similar price? It doesn’t make sense from a business point of view.
“As amazing as Harry Kane is, I just don’t see clubs paying for Harry Kane what they can for Haaland with the extra years you can get off Haaland.”
