Agbonlahor salutes Nuno after 'amazing' Tottenham deal completed
Gabby Agbonlahor has heaped praise on Nuno Espirito Santo for getting rid of Erik Lamela so early on into his Tottenham reign.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed Lamela is a “frustrating” player who has not shown the consistency needed to thrive in the Premier League.
Tottenham announced on 26 July the winger has joined Sevilla as part of a part-exchange deal for Bryan Gil.
Fabrizio Romano reported the same day that Sevilla have also received €25million (£21.2million) as part of the deal.
Gil, 20, featured for Spain at the European Championship and is currently representing his country at the Tokyo Olympics.
“Lamela’s a very frustrating player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I can see why managers would not want to have him at their club.
“He offers such amazing talent but every five or six games he’ll do something good. It’s not enough. You need consistency, consistency, consistency.
“They’ve got Lucas Moura who’s similar, very inconsistent.
“I’m sure Nuno Espirito Santo could not wait to get a swap deal done with that bit of cash on top.
“The game against Arsenal last season, that sums him up. He can’t keep his head and gets sent off. For me, definitely, the right idea and I’m sure they’ll be happy with the transfer.”
Lamela scored the goal of the season at the Emirates back in February but was shown a red card as Spurs lost 2-1.
He ends his eight-year association with Spurs with 37 goals and 47 assists in 257 games across all competitions.
