Agbonlahor shares verdict on Man City signing Mateo Kovacic - 'what a signing'
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Man City should move for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic this summer with the Croatian capable of “fitting into any midfield”.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old will need to “work on his finishing” in order to slot seamlessly into Pep Guardiola’s plans.
Sources told this site on Thursday (11 May) that Chelsea will demand between £30-40million for Man City target Kovacic in the summer window.
Football Insider has also revealed (9 May) that Guardiola’s side have set aside “huge” funds to add two midfielders to their squad in the off-season.
Kovacic, who is entering the final year of his Stamford Bridge contract, has notched two goals and two assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.
The former Real Madrid ace has not been a prolific scorer in England – managing just six goals in 219 appearances for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, City midfielders like Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne have often contributed with double-figure returns in a single campaign.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he’s good enough for most sides in world football.
“The only thing he needs to work on is his finishing. He gets a lot of chances with Chelsea where you feel he has to put it away.
“He’s not quite composed enough in front of goal. You see Man City’s midfielders putting it in the top corner every week.
“But his midfield brain, his passing, his close control – it’s top, for a central midfielder. I think he’d fit into any midfield, to be honest, what a signing he would be”.
