Agbonlahor: Steve Cooper 'worried' at Nottingham Forest amid confirmed sack news

Steve Cooper should be “worried” about his job at Nottingham Forest, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict as Forest go into the international break second from bottom of the Premier League table.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis has proven himself to be ruthless after sacking Carlos Corberan at Olympiacos at the weekend (18 September) after winning just four of his opening 11 games in charge.

Meanwhile, Forest have won one of their first seven Premier League games this term.

“I think he [Cooper] should be a bit worried,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“To bring in all those players and not get the best out of them, it’s like the situation was at Fulham.

“I know Nottingham Forest lost a lot of players but there were players they could have kept hold of but they didn’t offer the right contracts, players like Lewis Grabban was one. There are players they could have kept hold of.

“To get all these players in like a game of Football Manager and not know your best team. [Jesse] Lingard was out and Emmanuel Dennis was out, it’s like he doesn’t know his best team.

“He deserves to be under pressure, this is the Premier League. Yes, he’s done an amazing job but you’ve seen managers bring a team up and get the sack after 10 games because it’s not working.

“As an owner, I’m sure the owner is thinking ‘I’m not going to let you spend all this money and get relegated. We need better results with the players you’ve got’.

“Because they are all new players then it wouldn’t be a problem if a new manager came in and worked with them. They are still new to Steve Cooper.”
