Agbonlahor tips Bamford to be axed after what he's seen at Leeds
Gabby Agbonlahor has called on Marcelo Bielsa to axe Patrick Bamford from the Leeds United starting XI and give him a proper rest.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker backed the 27-year-old to score a “late flurry of goals” in the Whites remaining games when he regains full sharpness.
Bamford has not completed the full 90 minutes for Leeds in four games and has admitted he has struggled with an injury.
Against Manchester City last weekend he was hooked before half-time after Liam Cooper’s red card forced Bielsa to shuffle the pack.
In his last four appearances, Bamford has won just 11 of 38 attempted dules, or 29 per cent, according to Wyscout.
And Agbonlahor wants to see him dropped to the bench against Liverpool on Monday night.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I said this before and Leeds fans didn’t take well to it.
“He looks tired, he’s played a lot of football this season. The Premier League is very intense.
“He probably just needs a rest to give him a bit of freshness, maybe the next game on the bench.
“Afterwards I’m sure he’ll come back with a late flurry of goals in the last vife, six games. He’s been fantastic this season.
“Sometimes it happens, you need a rest.
“I’m sure Rodrigo is thinking ‘Give me a go.’
“It’s nothing against Bamford, he’s a great player but maybe he needs a little rest and go again afterwards.”
