Agbonlahor wowed as Leeds finalise 'great signing' Firpo
Junior Firpo would be a “great signing” for Leeds United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested the presence of Marcelo Bielsa has helped the Whites in their pursuit.
Football Insider revealed on 29 June Leeds have agreed to sign the Barcelona left-back after having a bid of £12.8million accepted, and the latest from a club source is the deal could be completed within 48 hours.
Firpo has been Jordi Alba’s understudy at Camp Nou after signing from Real Betis in 2019.
The former Spain Under-21 international has scored twice and provided three assists in 41 games across all competitions for Barca.
Leeds are in desperate need of a new left-back after Ezgjan Alioski’s contract expired yesterday (1 June).

Asked for his verdict on Firpo potentially moving to Elland Road, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It shows how big the Premier League is.
“Every player’s first choice is the Premier League, it’s just a massive league, the biggest in the world.
“He’ll obviously know about the great project that Leeds have got going on under the manager.
“He’ll be a great signing, massive, I’m sure. He’ll add competition for all the players already there.”
Firpo featured in just 18 Barcelona games last season but played a key role as they lifted the Copa del Ray.
The 24-year-old also played six times in the Champions League last term, including playing 55 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 second leg.
