Jansson overlooked: The first three players on the Leeds team sheet if they got promoted
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Eleven games of the Championship season remain and Leeds are on course to achieve a 13-year dream and make a possible return to the Premier League.
Garry Monk and his team may have to go through the gut-wrenching play-offs to secure promotion to the promise land, but however it is done they will take it.
Football Insider debates which three Whites players would be the first names on the teamsheet if they are to earn promotion.
The New Zealand international has scored 22 goals during this campaign and is well on course to score 30 for the season with a fair amount of games remaining. Wood’s physical style, previous Premier League experience and ability to play on his own up top has his name etched onto the team sheet right away. The 25-year-old will have a lot of pressure on his shoulders, but as he has proven with a well-drilled team, he can prove his worth.

Once again another player with Premier League experience and calm shoulders on his head. His centre-back partner Pontus Jansson may have been stealing the headlines this term, but Bartley has gone under the radar for his performances. The simple reason why he gets ahead of Jansson is because of his experience in England’s top flight. But, his ability to read the game and deal with danger is as good as Jansson’s.
If the Yorkshire club are successful in earning promotion then one aspect of the team Monk needs to get right straight away is the spine of his team. Amongst the success of his outfield players this season, Green is another player who has gone under the radar for his performances. The 37-year-old has vasts amounts of experience, both at the highest level and on the international stage. This will be crucial for any situation that faces the Whites because Green can be that influential figure to the younger players in the dressing room.
In other Leeds news, Adam Virgo believes these two senior men take credit for Chris Wood’s success.
