Alan Rough slams '£9m' Rangers player, compares to Celtic star
Alan Rough believes Alfredo Morelos wouldn’t have missed a gilt-edged chance v Celtic in Sunday’s Old Firm clash if his quality matched his reported transfer value.
The Colombian striker somehow hit the post from three yards in the final minutes of Celtic’s 3-2 win at Ibrox as the Gers saw their title hopes slip through their fingers.
The result leaves the Ibrox side nine points behind their bitter rivals in the Scottish Premiership and face a near-impossible task to overtake them.
Rough thinks if Morelos was worth the sums mentioned for him for a possible move to China then he would have scored like Celtic star Moussa Dembele did.
“It just gets back to Dembele who I said, for me didn’t do very much, but given a chance he scored the goal,” the former Celtic goalkeeper told PLZ Soccer, in a video posted to their official YouTube site.
“If you’re saying Morelos is a £9million player, £9million players don’t miss these chances.”

The 21-year-old striker has yet to score in three Old Firm appearances but has hit the net 17 times in 35 games for the Gers since his £1million move from HJK Helsinki in the summer.
Morelos has even emerged as a contender for a place in Colombia’s squad for the World Cup in summer later this year after his blistering form in front of goal for both the Gers and HJK.
Football Insider verdict:
Whatever price you want to put on Morelos, players of high value miss chances like that. There’s an entire world of blooper videos with some of the biggest names in football having moments they’d rather forget – Google any world-class attacker and the words ‘open goal’ and there will almost certainly be a video. It was a huge chance – and one that Morelos should have scored – for the Gers to level the game up and take a point from the game but the 21-year-old will move on and look to keep scoring. With 17 goals in 35 games for the Gers Morelos has shown he can score.
