Alan Shearer delivers verdict after Tottenham victory v Watford

By Dominic Toner

Alan Shearer claims that Tottenham produced a “very impressive performance” during their 4-0 victory over Watford on Saturday.

Spurs managed to crank up the pressure on London rivals Chelsea and close the gap to just four points on the Premier League leaders.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side demonstrated a clinical touch in front of goal and brushed aside Watford at White Hart Lane.

Dele All and Eric Dier gave Spurs a two-goal lead, before Heung-Min Son netted a brace for the hosts.

There was also more reason to cheer as star striker returned from an ankle injury in the second-half and should breathe new life into their title bid.

“A very impressive performance by Spurs today,” Shearer wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Spurs have intensified the pressure on league leaders Chelsea, who play on Saturday evening away to Bournemouth.

The north London club are now just four points behind them in the table and have managed to set-up an unlikely title race.

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have been viewed as the champions-elect for the majority of the season, but Spurs’ impressive form lately has seen them claw back the deficit.

Pochettino’s side have now won their last seven consecutive games across all competitions, with six of them coming in the Premier League.

They face Bournemouth at home in their next league match and could be just one point behind Chelsea by then if results go in their favour.
