Alan Shearer took to Twitter to jokingly applaud Tottenham striker Harry Kane for his third goal in the 6-1 win v Panama.
He knew nothing about it as a shot clipped off his heel and looped into the net.
Kane was taken off shortly afterwards and the hat-trick points him on top of the race for the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup finals.
Shearer said it was a “great hat-trick” but went on to say that when goals like that are going in, “you get the sense it’s your tournament”.

Football Insider verdict:
After a low-key build-up with the English public trying hard not to get too excited, this scoreline will probably light the torch paper. England have already qualified for the final 16, with a match to spare against Belgium. Depending on other results this could be a weird game that could see both sides trying not to finish on top of the grout. That speculation is for another day though. Today was all about England and Harry Kane. There has been talk that he can’t call himself an elite striker if he doesn’t go onto the world stage and prove it. He’s done that already – five goals in two games and looking as sharp as he’s every looked for Tottenham. Okay, today he scored from two penalties and a fluke, but he put the spot-kicks away with an unbelievable confidence, and he probably would have scored more if he hadn’t been taken off early. Gareth Southgate has got his squad believing, and we might be about to join them.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they have joined the hunt to sign a £18million-rated playmaker.
