Alejandro Garnacho posts Man United message after Ruben Amorim bust-up

Alejandro Garnacho shared his thoughts after Ruben Amorim addressed him in the post-match press conference following Manchester United’s victory over Ipswich.

Garnacho started for Man United but was substituted before halftime after Patrick Dorgu received a red card during their thrilling 3-2 win.

Ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett believes Dorgu was correctly sent off in what was seen as an “obvious” decision for the referee after VAR intervened.

Unfortunately for Garnacho, this meant he had to bear the brunt of the tactical change, and he was seen walking straight down the tunnel after his early exit from the game.

In the press conference, Ruben Amorim responded to a question about the substitution, stating, “I am going to talk with Garnacho about that.” He explained further, “The thinking was that we would play 5-3-1. That is a risk because he [Garnacho] is the one who can play one-v-one in pace.”

“We had to choose someone to go out. It was my choice” [BBC Sport].

Alejandro Garnacho faces key decision regarding Man United future

Garnacho shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story immediately after the match, featuring a picture of him with his head down. However, he followed it up with a celebratory post in another Instagram story, captioning it, “Important 3 points! Team.”

The Argentine has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few months, with the club’s former chief scout, Mick Brown, revealing exclusively to Football Insider that Garnacho is questioning his long-term future at Man United.

Both Chelsea and Napoli expressed interest in Garnacho during the January transfer window, but no move ultimately materialised. This season, the youngster has been inconsistent in terms of playing time, making 40 appearances across all competitions and starting 22 of those matches.

He has managed to score eight goals and provide six assists in a campaign where he has been deployed in various positions to accommodate Amorim’s tactical system.

Ruben Amorim could let Alejandro Garnacho go after call-out

Rumours surrounding Garnacho’s departure have intensified since he was dropped from the squad against Man City earlier this season, and during the January transfer window, it seemed a move could be imminent.

Man United were linked with a swap deal including Christopher Nkunku, as Chelsea expressed interest in the Argentine international. However, with both teams dealing with injuries and departures to their attacking players, no agreement was reached.

Garnacho has not started as frequently this season compared to last and it appears he may not be on the best terms with Amorim. Nevertheless, he continues to project a positive message despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future at the club.
