Alex Moreno: Three clubs race to sign Aston Villa – sources
Villarreal, Sevilla, and Valencia have all registered their interest in signing Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed (July 26) that the 31-year-old is keen on a move back to his native Spain following the signing of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.
Villa are trying to persuade Moreno to remain at Villa Park but may be forced to reluctantly sell him if he continues to push for a move.
Moreno was a bit-part player at Villa last season, starting just 10 Premier League games as the club secured Champions League football.
The club no longer have the shadow of PSR hanging over them after the sales of Moussa Diaby, Douglas Luiz, and Tim Iroegbunam but it’s unlikely the departures will end there.
Football Insider revealed (July 23) that the club would be willing to accept an offer for AC Milan linked defender Diego Carlos.
Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno wants Spain return
Villa boss Unai Emery preferred Frenchman Lucas Digne over Moreno last season and the signing of Maatsen has pushed him even further down the pecking order.
Moreno has made 43 appearances for Villa since joining the club from Real Betis in January 2023, most of them as a substitute.

None of Sevilla, Valencia, or Villareal had a particularly good campaign last season with each of the Spanish giants failing to qualify for European football.
That’s in stark contrast to Aston Villa who qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 1982-83 last season, pipping Spurs to fourth spot by two points.
In other news, Tottenham are interested in a move for 23-year-old Villa midfielder.
