‘Alexander Isak is Liverpool bound’ – fans react to confirmed transfer news

Arne Slot has been told to finalise his record-breaking move for Alexander Isak after a crowd favourite completed his move away from Liverpool.

Isak’s future has come to dominate this summer’s transfer discourse after he made his desire to leave Newcastle clear, with Liverpool’s move to sign the striker successfully unsettling him at St. James’ Park.

Liverpool have been told that any move for Isak will cost up to £150million in transfer fees alone, but the Reds are aligning themselves to complete a second club-record signing of the summer transfer window.

Florian Wirtz’s £116m arrival from Bayer Leverkusen has already beaten Liverpool’s previous record buy, but the Reds are now ready to spend even more after bringing in £65m for one of Slot’s star players.

Luis Diaz opens the door to Liverpool finalising stunning signing

Slot plans to fund the signing of Isak by selling £130m worth of talent in the form of Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott and Luis Diaz, and one domino has now fallen in a massive boost to Liverpool’s finances.

After Liverpool turned down a £59m bid from Bayern Munich for Diaz on 25 July, a deal was agreed for the Colombian four days later and Bayern announced the signing of Diaz for £65m on Wednesday.

Diaz’s emotional departure from Anfield leaves Liverpool with a huge hole to fill, but the money brought in for the 28-year-old could be the first step in amassing the finances to break another club record.

‘Diaz is the new Coutinho’ – Liverpool fans demand Isak bid

Liverpool have made a huge profit on the £37.5m they paid Porto to sign Diaz in 2022 with his £65m sale to Bayern, in yet another shrewd piece of business which could play a huge role in their pursuit of Isak.

It remains to be seen if the Reds’ big-money outlays on Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and potentially Isak can be described as ‘shrewd’, but Liverpool fans have demanded that the spending continues after selling Diaz.

Philippe Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona back in 2018 helped fund the signings of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to build the cornerstone of Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering team, and fans are keen to see a repeat of this.

“The Coutinho money” has certainly gone a long way in the eyes of Liverpool fans, and on social media they almost unanimously declared that Diaz’s departure must be swiftly followed by the arrival of Isak.
