Alexander Isak ‘likely’ to quit Newcastle ‘from what I know’ – expert
Bruno Guimaraes will not leave Newcastle United this summer but Alexander Isak is far more likely to go.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham United and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie insisted that interested clubs would be put off by the Brazilian’s huge price tag and would opt for other targets.
Sources have told Football Insider (13 April) that Man City are now in the hunt to sign Guimaraes, 26, while many other clubs across Europe are keeping close tabs on his situation on Tyneside.
The Magpies are likely to be forced to sanction a mega-money departure in the off-season amid their PSR concerns, but the midfielder would likely only be sold if his £100million release clause is triggered.
Bruno Guimaraes to stay at Newcastle United this summer?
He has excelled at St James’ Park since his reported £40million move from Lyon in January 2022 and has started every Premier League and Champions League game he has been available for this term.
However, McAvennie suggested that the likes of Alexander Isak are more likely to attract major interest this summer and predicted that Guimaraes will remain at Newcastle.
“He’s a great player for Newcastle,” he told Football Insider.
“But will someone come in and spend big money on him? I don’t think so.
“There are other players at the club who are more likely to go, in my opinion.

“The big guy up top, Isak, he’s a fantastic player that I know top clubs are interested in signing him – and I can see it happening. He’s more likely to go.
“Newcastle aren’t going to want to sell their best players this summer, but I can’t see Guimaraes leaving for that kind of money.”
