‘Alexander Isak drops Newcastle transfer bombshell’ after new twist’

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has revealed where his future may lie amid continued interest from Premier League champions Liverpool.

The news comes after it emerged that Isak has not travelled to Singapore for Newcastle’s pre-season games, thanks to a minor thigh injury.

The Sweden international proved himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League by notching 23 goals and six assists in 34 top-flight appearances last term.

Isak also scored in March’s Carabao Cup final, when Newcastle defeated Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley.

Isak tells Newcastle he wants to explore move away

Although Isak is reportedly nursing a thigh injury, his absence from the North East side’s pre-season tour of Asia was bound to fuel speculation regarding his future.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail [24 July], the 25-year-old has told Eddie Howe’s men that he wants to explore a move away from St James’ Park.

Isak’s departure would present a hammer blow to the Magpies, who have missed out on previous attacking targets in the transfer market, such as Liverpool new boy Hugo Ekitike.

Liverpool have already enjoyed a highly successful transfer window, having acquired the likes of Ekitike and the former Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz.

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Liverpool were plotting a record-breaking bid for Isak, worth £130million.

Now that the Reds know that the former Real Sociedad man is open to leaving Newcastle, the Merseyside giants can pounce and seal his signature ahead of next season.

As reported by Sky Sports, Arne Slot’s men already broke the British transfer record with the £116m, including add-ons they spent on Wirtz.

But if the defending Premier League champions flex their increasingly impressive financial muscles once again and land their move for Isak, the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal have little chance of preventing the Reds from sealing back-to-back titles.

Isak’s clinical qualities should also prove enough to give Slot’s side a high chance of winning the Champions League.
