Alexander Isak posts live update from Newcastle trophy parade
Alexander Isak has shared a live update from Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup trophy parade, as the club celebrated their first trophy in nearly 70 years.
Newcastle went into this year’s league cup final as underdogs, as they faced a Liverpool side with only one defeat across the Premier League season.
Goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak either side of half-time saw Newcastle win 2-1, sparking scenes of jubilation as their fans took over the capital.
Despite adding silverware to his collection, Isak’s future has been thrown under further doubt in recent times, with the striker being linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, the Magpie’s star man shared an update from the club’s open top parade, as around 150,000 Newcastle fans gathered on the Town Moor with thousands more lining up on the streets to celebrate their teams achievement.

The bus left St James’ Park and travelled down Gallowgate and along Percy Street towards the Great North Road and Town Moor, with Isak posting a live story via his Instagram account showing the Newcastle fans out in full force.
In the video footage, one fan can be seen sitting on top of a street-light in an attempt to get as close as possible to the players, as they pass through.
Eddie Howe will allow his players to enjoy this moment before Newcastle are back in action in four days’ time against Brentford, as they look to hunt down Manchester City for Champions League football next season.

Newcastle will want to be playing in the Champions League next season
Football Insider verdict
Despite ended their long wait for silverware, Howe’s men will need to find their focus again to end the league campaign strongly.
The reality of having no Champions League football next season puts the club in a much weaker position to keep a hold of Isak, especially with Europe’s elite lurking.
The Sweden international has scored an impressive 19 times in the league, averaging 0.76 goals per game, making his output almost irreplaceable for the club.

Games – 25 |
Goals – 19 |
Assists – 5 |
Newcastle’s from has been mixed in the last few months, having lost three times and won twice in their last five games.
They currently sit one point behind Man City in fifth, with that likely to be enough in order to secure Champions League football.
However, the Magpies find themselves in a precarious position as only five points separate them in sixth with next opponents Brentford in 11th.
Isak will need to continue his fine goalscoring form if Newcastle are going to go one step further from winning the Carabao Cup and play in Europe’s elite competition going forward.
