Danny Mills claims that Everton’s players made a blunder against Bournemouth by not giving Richarlison more time on the ball.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Manchester City and England full-back says that the Brazilian winger was a nightmare for Cherries defender Sergio Rico but that he was not offered enough chances to make his dominance down the flank pay off.

The Toffees suffered a 3-1 defeat to Eddie Howe’s side on the south coast, Callum Wilson netting a brace for the home side while Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for Marco Silva’s men.

Mills says that Richarlison’s talents were somewhat wasted at times with the likes of right-sided full-back Seamus Coleman and the rest of his teammates not taking advantage of the joy the South American star was getting on the wing.

Bent told Football Insider: “Richarlison’s the one, isn’t he? Everton were getting joy in wide areas, maybe they should have got the ball to Richarlison more than they did, and Iwobi on the other side.

“Richarlison was the one causing all sorts of problems down that right-hand side, running that Diego Rico (ragged). It’s one of those, sometimes, if I’m a full-back and the winger’s terrorising the opposition full-back, just keep giving him the ball, keep giving him the ball.

“Everton were a little bit guilty over not doing that.”

Defeat to Bournemouth has left Everton sitting 11th in the Premier League table, having played out two wins, a draw and two defeats in their opening give games of the campaign.

Their next outing sees them play host to newly-promoted Sheffield United, the Blades just two points behind Marco Silva and his men in 15th.

In other Everton news, Darren Bent has told Football Insider that he doubts a 26-year-old ever wanted to sign for the Toffees in a Goodison transfer claim.
