Sources: Leeds agree personal terms with in-demand starlet
Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Linfield sensation Charlie Allen, Football Insider has learned.
The Championship leaders are set to beat a cluster of Premier League clubs to the capture of the rising star, 16, after persuading him to make a summer move to Elland Road.
A United source has told Football Insider that Allen has agreed a initial scholarship deal that will converted into a professional contract when he turns 17 in November.
The transfer is not yet complete as the Yorkshire giants must finalise the paperwork of the player’s registration.
Nevertheless, Leeds are close to a deal as they have also had a bid of around £300,000 accepted by Linfield, as revealed by Football Insider earlier this week.
It means that Allen is in line to link up with United in the summer.
His imminent signature is regarded as a major coup given the intense interest him from some of Britain’s leading clubs.
He has undergone trials at Tottenham and Man City as well as been the subject of strong interest from Rangers and Chelsea.
Leeds’ talent spotters have been very impressing by the potential of the rising star, who can play in midfield or attack.
He has made a number of appearances for Linfield already and, remarkably, broke into the first team at just 15 in the final match of last season when he became their youngest-ever debutant.
He has since made seven more appearances for the Northern Irish club, who are managed by former Leeds striker David Healy.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are in line to sign up senior star after big Premier League club development.
