Andre Green has stated that it was a “dream come true” to hear the Aston Villa fans sing his name during their 2-0 win against Bristol City on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old academy product produced a man of the match display for Steve Bruce’s side who recorded back-to-back wins.

Winger Green started the match and produced a number of dazzling runs, including a thunderous 25-yard shot that hit the crossbar in the second half.

He was taken off four minutes before time after picking up a knock but the Villa Park faithful sounded their appreciation by singing, “Andre Green, he’s one of our own”.

This was Green’s passionate and emotional message to the supporters after the game against Bristol City.

“Dream come true hearing the Holte End sing my name tonight,” Green wrote on his personal Twitter account. “When is the woodwork going to let me score?”

Green came through the ranks at Villa Park and was given his debut in the Premier League last season during a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham.

He has since played 15 games in all competitions for the club this season, starting five of those encounters, but he is yet to score his first goal for the club.

Solihull-born Green has come very close during his last two matches hitting the woodwork in consecutive games, including a diving header against Derby at the weekend.

Villa will now travel to Yorkshire at the weekend when they take on Championship strugglers Rotherham.

Bruce’s side have only recorded two wins on the road this term, most recently against QPR in December.
