Former Spurs player Andy Reid believes Dele Alli must remain at Tottenham for the foreseeable future, despite reports suggesting he could move to Spain.
The Mirror reported that El Clasico rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid are to battle for Alli’s signature, after the former MK Dons ace continues to sparkle for Spurs.
However, Reid believes the 20-year-old midfielder should stay at White Hart Lane as he continues to progress under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“I don’t think he should move,” Reid told Sky Sports News on Sunday. “It wouldn’t be a good option. Tottenham is the best place for him to be and they should begin to build the team around him.
“For me, he’s phenomenal. What stands out to me is his temperament, his mentality is excellent and he looks like he’s been in the first team for years.”

It is understood that either Zinedine Zidane or Luis Enriquie’s side would have to spend around £70million to lure the England international away from north London.
Tottenham’s number 20 has continued his whirlwind rise to stardom this season in dazzling style, after scoring a brace to earn Spurs a 2-0 win against rivals Chelsea.
Throughout his 25 league and cup appearances this season, Alli has had a hand in 15 goals for Pochettino’s side with 11 of them being scored by the attacking midfielder while turning provider on four other occasions.
With Spurs looking to maintain a title challenge, Pochettino will want to keep his best players as they look to rival Antonio Conte’s Chelsea for the Premier League trophy.
