Andy Robertson reacts to Van Dijk’s four-word message to Liverpool fans

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has reacted to a four-word message from his teammate Virgil van Dijk after beating Tottenham.

The Reds went into their semi-final second-leg against Spurs in the Carabao Cup, down 1-0 on aggregate.

Captain Van Dijk played 86 minutes for his side, scoring the final goal for Liverpool in a 4-0 thumping to send his side to Wembley.

The North London club fell to pieces in the second-leg, as Liverpool dominated early proceedings.

Liverpool took a deserved lead in the 34th minute of the game after Cody Gakpo connected with a Mohamed Salah cross.

There was a controversial moment after Van Dijk elbowed Tottenham forward Richarlison, but referee Craig Pawson decided against showing a red card.

The Brazilian forward would fail to make it through the first-half, as Liverpool fans mocked Richarlison going off injured.

Mathys Tel was signed for Spurs from Bayern Munich on Deadline Day, and would replace the Brazilian forward on the stroke of half-time.

The Reds would finish the game in the second-half, thanks to goals from Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Van Dijk.

Liverpool face Newcastle in Carabao Cup final after Tottenham win

The Reds will have the opportunity to win the first trophy under Arne Slot, when they face Newcastle on March 16 in the Carabao Cup final.

Whilst it is not the most prestigious of competitions that the Reds are involved in this season, winning against the Magpies would put them on their way to complete a historic quadruple.

Posting on his Instagram, Van Dijk shared a message saying: “Wembley, we are coming!” Which his teammate Robertson would like.

Liverpool benefit from refereeing decisions in dominant win

Whilst the Reds’ captain was fortunate not to be sent off by Pawson, the referee was spot on in his decision to award Liverpool a penalty after Darwin Nunez was fouled by Antonin Kinsky in the box.

Salah converted the ensuing penalty with trademark confidence, smashing the ball top left and leaving the Czech goalkeeper with no chance to save it.
