Andy Walker predicts Rangers v St Johnstone, delivers verdict on experienced players
By Amir Mir
Andy Walker has backed Rangers to end their slump and beat St Johnstone 2-0 in their Scottish Premiership clash on Wednesday night.
Former Celtic striker Walker explained that the “onus” was on the experienced players to get the club out of this difficult period.
The Gers have suffered back-to-back in defeats in recent weeks, firstly at the hands of Dundee and then against relegation-threatened Inverness last Friday.
As a result, the managerless club have slumped further down the table and will be looking to put things right at Ibrox.
Sky Sports pundit Walker believes they have what it takes to pick up the three points and he backed defender Clint Hill to be the key man on the night.
“Onus now on experienced players at Ibrox to get them through a difficult period,” Walker told Sky Sports.
February has been a turbulent month for the Scottish club which saw manager Mark Warburton resign added with a number of humiliating defeats.
At the start of the month, they were beaten 4-1 at Hearts and narrowly avoided a scare when they pipped minnow Greenock Morton 2-1 in the Scottish Cup.
A defeat in front of their own supporters could prove to be significant because the third-placed side could see the chasing pack overtake them in the coming weeks.
Fourth-placed Hearts are five points behind the Glasgow club and they will take on Ross County on Wednesday, while their midweek opponents are six points behind them in the table.
In other Rangers news, Mark Warburton is in talks to take over this Premier League club.
