By Matt Farr
Celtic star Craig Gordon is set to be offered a new long-term deal with the club, according to a reliable journalist.
The 34-year-old is regarded by manager Brendan Rodgers as one of the club’s most prized assets, and he is looking to reward the goalkeeper for his services with a new bumper deal.
Robert Grieve, chief football writer for the Scottish Sun, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday that Gordon had received confirmation of his new contract, worth another three-and-a-half-years.

The new deal should see Gordon remain at Celtic until the summer of 2020, and Grieve claims the announcement will be made by the club within days.
Celtic’s gain could well become Chelsea’s loss, as the Premier League side are believed to be keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea reportedly made a move to sign him last month as backup to Thibaut Courtois, with current deputy Asmir Begovic hoping to push through a move to Bournemouth.
However, Celtic’s reluctance to part with Gordon saw the deal collapse, but Chelsea had not given up hope of signing him.
Since moving to the club in 2014, the Scot has made 140 appearances in all competitions. He has kept 24 clean sheets from 27 appearances this term, conceding just 11 league goals.
Football Insider verdict
The deal is fantastic for Celtic, as despite his advancing years and previous injury concerns, Gordon has performed impeccably. It is therefore, no wonder that a club like Chelsea were considering making a move for him. Given Celtic’s current dominance in Scotland, Gordon often goes through matches without really being tested, but his concentration is exceptional, as he is always focused on the job at hand and can be called upon when necessary without any issues. Gordon has made the No.1 jersey at Celtic his own and he has the quality to do so for years to come.
In other Celtic transfer news, Efe Ambrose has finally agreed a deal to leave the club.
