Kieffer Moore is set to sign a three-year deal with Cardiff City today to complete his transfer from Wigan Athletic, Football Insider understands.
A source at the Cardiff City Stadium has told Football Insider that the 28-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a contract until 2023 today (Thursday, 13 August) and that the official announcement will be made soon.
Moore has been in high demand among Championship clubs this summer after Wigan entered administration and were relegated to League One last season.
The likes of QPR, Derby County and Millwall were all interested in securing his services but it is Cardiff who have won the race for his capture.
The centre-forward caught the eye with 10 goals and five assists for the Latics last season, while he has scored a total of 18 times in 87 Championship appearances.
He is expected to be one of several players to leave Wigan this summer as a result of their financial issues.
The Latics have already lost promising young talents like Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir with the pair moving to Leeds United and Brighton respectively.
Cardiff boss Neil Harris has pounced on the opportunity to sign Moore and bolster his attacking options despite Cardiff’s impressive goal-scoring record last season.
The Bluebirds were the fourth-highest scorers in the second-tier with a total of 68 goals to their name.
Lee Tomlin was the club’s top scorer with eight league goals, while Junior Hoilett, Robert Glatzel, Danny Ward and Joe Ralls all chipped in with seven apiece.
In other Wigan Athletic news, West Brom are plotting a raid to poach another top talent from the Latics.
