The Toon Army’s prayers were answered late into the game when Jack Grealish scored a last-gasp equaliser to send Benitez’s men top of the standings and in turn hand them the silverware.
Promotion was sealed long before but Newcastle and Brighton both traded blows to finish top of the pile for most of the season.
Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are one of the UK’s favourite television duos and host a range of shows from Britain’s Got Talent to I’m a Celebrity.
They were both born in Newcastle and make it no secret about their support for the Magpies.
Benitez and his men are now preparing for life back in the Premier League and have already acquired the permanent services of Christian Atsu ahead of what is guaranteed to be a busy summer.
In other Newcastle news, Benitez has responded to reported interest in this World Cup winner.
