Anthony Elanga reacts to Newcastle star’s message – ‘don’t say too much’

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for Anthony Elanga after his displays for Nottingham Forest last season.

After they secured a return to the Champions League next season despite a final-day defeat by Everton, Newcastle have a summer of spending planned thanks to the £80million windfall qualification will bring.

Eddie Howe will have renewed confidence that Newcastle can keep hold of players like Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes this summer, as attention turns to incomings and reinforcements.

A goalkeeper, centre-back and back-up striker to Isak have all emerged as priorities with the transfer window now re-opened, but Newcastle also have a new right-winger near the top of their shortlist.

Elanga responds to William Osula message away from Newcastle

Few clubs have been restricted by the Premier League’s PSR rules quite like Newcastle across recent seasons, and last summer only saw the arrivals of Lewis Hall, Odysseas Vlachodimos and William Osula.

Osula has played a bit-part role since his move to St. James’ Park from Sheffield United, but has been in strong form for Denmark Under-21s at the 2025 UEFA Under-21 European Championships this summer.

The 21-year-old scored both goals for Denmark in a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands which takes them to the top of Group D with back-to-back wins, and Osula posted on Instagram (16 June) with a message.

Osula said; “Two Goals, God’s work. Through to quarter-final”, in a post liked by several of his Newcastle team-mates, and Elanga responded with a comment of: “Not going to say too much… keep going my boy”.

Elanga fans flames for potential Newcastle transfer

A right-sided attacker is Newcastle‘s most obvious area in need of strengthening this summer, and Elanga‘s message of “not saying too much” will leave Magpies fans hopeful that there is more to come.

Forest will also be active on the continent next term after they qualified for the UEFA Conference League, but owner Evangelos Marinakis is open to selling Elanga for the right price if Newcastle can strike a deal.

Football Insider revealed on 15 June that Newcastle must improve their previous £35m bid by at least £15m in order to sign the Swede, and with Champions League football on offer, Elanga could soon swap Forest’s red for the famous black and white.
