Anthony Elanga responds to teammate’s message after Newcastle claim
Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has taken to social media to react to a message from one of his teammates, amid speculation around his own future.
The season may have ended in disappointment for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side as they missed out on qualification for the Champions League, but this is still a campaign they can be proud of.
Securing a place in the UEFA Conference League and reaching the semi finals of the FA Cup remains an impressive effort for a side who had spent the last two seasons battling to avoid relegation.
Elanga produced some excellent performances for Nottingham Forest to more than play his part in that, something which is now starting to attract interest from elsewhere.

Anthony Elanga speaks out amid transfer links
According to recent updates, Newcastle United are now keen to sign Elanga in the transfer window, as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
While that means there is plenty for the winger to think about going forward, his focus right now may well be on international duty.
On Friday (6 June), the Nottingham Forest winger was a starter for Sweden in a friendly against Hungary, where he lined up alongside another Premier League star in the form of Brighton’s Yasin Ayari.
In what ended as a 2-0 win for the Swede’s, it was Ayari who netted the second goal for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side.
After the game, the Brighton midfielder took to Instagram to post a picture of himself celebrating that goal, with a caption that simply read: “Who?”.
In response, Forest ace Elanga paid tribute to his international teammate by commenting on that post with the word: “You”.
Newcastle United interest in Nottingham Forest ace no surprise
Football Insider Verdict
In the lead up to the summer transfer window, there have been suggestions that a right-sided attacker is one position that Newcastle will target.
As a result, it does make sense that they are now showing an interest in Elanga, given he is an option who can fill that role.
The Sweden international has shown this season that he can be a major threat at Premier League level with his pace and ability.
That would make him useful as Eddie Howe’s side look to build on the success they enjoyed in the league and cup this season.
It is also worth noting that Newcastle were forced to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest last summer in order to avoid being punished for PSR.
With that in mind, signing Elanga could represent an element of revenge for the Magpies, so there are a number of reasons this deal could be appealing for them.
