Anthony Gordon sends heartfelt message to Lee Carsley after England masterclass
Anthony Gordon is the latest high-profile England star to show his support for the Under-21s after their dramatic Euros triumph.
England sealed back-to-back European Championship victories under Lee Carsley with a thrilling 3-2 win over Germany in the final.
Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson fired the Young Lions into an early two-goal lead, but Germany showed their resilience by striking back twice to force the game into extra time.
Despite the setback, Carsley’s side held their nerve, with Tyler Morton delivering an inch-perfect cross for Jonathan Rowe to score the winning goal for England.
The victory follows England’s success against Spain in the 2023 final, marking consecutive Euros triumphs for the young squad, with several senior players joining the celebrations.
Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish previously sent a message of congratulations to Carsley and his players, and now Newcastle winger Gordon has followed suit with his own message of praise.
Anthony Gordon sends Lee Carsley message after England Euro triumph
Gordon was part of the previous England Under-21 side that lifted the Euros trophy under Carsley, starting in the final victory over Spain.
Although now part of the senior setup, Gordon still paid tribute to his former coach after the latest U21 success. The Newcastle winger shared a graphic of Carsley on his Instagram story alongside the caption: “What a guy” with a heart emoji.

Gordon has established himself as a regular option for Thomas Tuchel’s squad, operating naturally on the left-hand side.
However, his form came under increased scrutiny towards the end of the season, with some Newcastle supporters suggesting the club should consider selling Gordon.
With Harvey Barnes becoming a consistent starter under Eddie Howe, it remains to be seen whether Gordon can hold down his place — or if a transfer could be on the cards this summer.

Liverpool and Arsenal interested as Anthony Gordon future remains uncertain
Speculation surrounding Gordon’s future has grown after he was pictured alongside Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones during the off-season, fuelling rumours of a potential move back to Merseyside.
Liverpool have maintained a long-standing interest in Gordon, and with uncertainty around Luis Diaz’s future, the former Everton winger is seen as a possible replacement for the Colombian.
But Liverpool are not alone in their pursuit. Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are also tracking Gordon as they look to strengthen their wide attacking options ahead of next season.
Newcastle are under no pressure to sell, however, if a significant offer arrives, the Magpies could face a big decision in the coming weeks.
