Anthony Gordon sends ‘incredible’ message to Newcastle fans after Arsenal win
Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has posted a message to supporters on social media after beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies will play against one of Liverpool or Tottenham in the final, after beating Arsenal 2-0 on Wednesday night (5 February), and 4-0 on aggregate.
Gordon played a starring role for Newcastle, playing the full 90 minutes and scoring the match-winner in the 52nd minute.
Newcastle began the match in the ascendancy, having beaten the Gunners 2-0 in the first leg of their semi-final on 7 January.
Jacob Murphy continued his fine form for the Magpies, opening the scoring in the 20th minute, connecting to the rebound of Alexander Isak’s shot after it cannoned off the post.
Gordon would then confirm Newcastle’s trip to Wembley as Fabian Schar intercepted an attempted pass from David Raya, and played in the England international for an easy tap-in.

Posting on Instagram after the game, the former Everton man shared a video and two pictures of himself in action at St James’ Park.
Gordon captioned his post: “Nights at SJP [St James’ Park] don’t get much better. Incredible atmosphere.”

Star winger Gordon, was not the only Magpie to post online after the match, as Bruno Guimaraes sent a “difficult” message to fans.
Despite a slow start to the season, and Eddie Howe being denied two January transfers by Newcastle, the Magpies have bounced back and find themselves in a cup final and pushing for qualification to the Champions League.
Despite being denied his January deals, Newcastle have agreed a summer transfer that deserves major credit, according to Keith Wyness.
Howe’s men will have the opportunity to win the first Carabao Cup in the club’s history on 16 March.
Newcastle want best atmosphere with St James’ Park redevelopment
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Wyness revealed that he expects Newcastle to redevelop the historic St James’ Park instead of building a new stadium.
This news comes after The Telegraph reported that Newcastle were leaning towards building a new £1.2billion home, next to their current ground.
As Gordon eluded to, the stadium is famous for its brilliant atmosphere, and the Magpies’ fans were a key factor in helping the team secure a victory over Arsenal.
